Attention and Attendabilia: The Perception of Attentional Affordances
Abstract Agents are continually faced with two related selection problems: i) the problem of selecting what to do from a space of possible behaviours; ii) the problem of selecting what to attend to from a space of possible attendabilia. We have psychological mechanisms that enable us to solve both types of problem.

PI5P4K inhibitors: promising opportunities and challenges
Developing inhibitors is like climbing a steep, challenging mountain. PI5P4K inhibitors hold significant promise for the treatment of cancer, immune disorders, and neurological diseases. However, the path to success is fraught with hurdles, and researchers are therefore required to apply their expertise to overcome critical “checkpoints.” While some ...

N‐acetylglucosamine sensing in the filamentous soil fungus Trichoderma reesei
N‐acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) is involved in diverse signaling pathways in dimorphic yeasts and bacteria, including virulence and cell death. Here, we investigated GlcNAc sensing in Trichoderma reesei. GlcNAc signaling influences around 2100 genes in this filamentous soil fungus.

Abstract The tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum, G. Cuvier 1818) thrives both in the ion‐poor waters of the Amazon and in commercial aquaculture. In both, environmental conditions can be harsh due to low ion levels, occasional high salt challenges (in aquaculture), low pH, extreme PO2 levels (hypoxia and hyperoxia), high PCO2 levels (hypercapnia), high ...

Abstract The Amazonian loricariid fish Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, from the Rio Negro, and Pterygoplichthys pardalis, from the Rio Solimões, are facultative air‐breathers that can use the stomach as an air‐breathing organ. Measurement of oxygen uptake under progressive aquatic hypoxia revealed a relatively high hypoxia resistance of both species.

The osteohistology of Orthosuchus stormbergi using synchrotron radiation microcomputed tomography
The osteohistology of Orthosuchus stormbergi is described for the first time. The primary bone tissue was lamellar bone. It had relatively thick bone walls, possibly indicating an aquatic lifestyle. Orthosuchus was a small bodied adult reaching a maximum body mass of about 1.2 kg.
