Performance of the neutron polarimeter NPOL3 for high resolution measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We describe the neutron polarimeter NPOL3 for the measurement of polarization transfer observables $D_{ij}$ with a typical high resolution of $\sim$300 keV at $T_n$ $\simeq$ 200 MeV. The NPOL3 system consists of three planes of neutron detectors. The

Design and Simulation of Three-dimensional Position Sensitive Detector with Monolithic Scintillation Crystal Based on Lens Array for Multiple Focus Points

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
The monolithic scintillation crystal detector has the ability to position the three-dimension interaction location of the gamma ray in the detector depending on accurate acquisition of scintillation light distribution.

96-Well Plate-Based Method for Total Collagen Analysis of Cell Cultures

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2001
Total collagen assays are often laborious and use large quantities of consumables. We have developed a new method of assaying total 3H-proline-labeled collagen from cultured cells.

A lens-coupled scintillation counter in cryogenic environment

open access: yes, 2011
In this work we present an elegant solution for a scintillation counter to be integrated into a cryogenic system. Its distinguishing feature is the absence of a continuous light guide coupling the scintillation and the photodetector parts, operating at ...

Targeting carbonic anhydrase IX/XII prevents the anti‐ferroptotic effect of stromal lactic acid in prostate carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In prostate carcinoma, lactic acid, secreted by highly glycolytic cancer‐associated fibroblasts, is imported into tumor cells through the MCT1 transporter and prevents RSL3 and erastin‐induced ferroptosis (A). Targeting of carbonic anhydrase IX/XII, the main extracellular pH regulators, in tumor and stromal cells reduces microenvironmental acidosis and

Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

Improving Surface Quality of Titanium Electrodeposition from a Deep Eutectic Solvent with Organic and Inorganic Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, the electroplating of titanium from an organic solvent, ethaline, is shown. Polymer additives are shown to smooth the roughness of the film, and small molecule additives are shown to produce a near‐mirror finish to the deposited metal. Titanium electroreduction is desired for a variety of medical, electronic, and bonding applications but has ...

CHANTI: a Fast and Efficient Charged Particle Veto Detector for the NA62 Experiment at CERN

open access: yes, 2015
The design, construction and test of a charged particle detector made of scintillation counters read by Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM) is described. The detector, which operates in vacuum and is used as a veto counter in the NA62 experiment at CERN, has
