Arterial occlusion after scleral buckling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 2008
We present a report of a young man with bilateral retinal dialyses in whom surgery, in the form of scleral buckling, was initially performed only to one eye. Post-operatively, he developed features of combined central retinal and distal choroidal artery occlusions in the operated eye.

Giant Macular Hole Formation After Scleral Buckling and Vitrectomy Surgery

open access: yesTürk Oftalmoloji Dergisi, 2015
Macular holes can develop secondary to pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). We report a case with giant macular hole formation after PPV and scleral buckling.

Scleral Buckling Using a Non-contact Wide-Angle Viewing System with a 25-Gauge Chandelier Endoilluminator

open access: yesKorean Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Purpose To report the outcome of scleral buckling using a non-contact wide-angle viewing system with a 25-gauge chandelier endoilluminator. Methods Retrospective analyses of medical records were performed for 17 eyes of 16 patients with primary ...

To remove the buckle or watch?

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Scleral buckling is one of the most effective modality for treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and in selected cases of retinopathy of prematurity. Although quite safe, it has its own set of associated morbidities.

A Case of Extrusion of a Solid Silicone Tire Migrating through the Superior Rectus Muscle with Aeromonas hydrophila Infection following a Scleral Buckling Procedure

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine, 2012
To our knowledge, there are no reports of Aeromonas hydrophila infection after a scleral buckling procedure. Also, migration of a silicone explant element through the rectus muscles is extremely rare.

Determinants of effectiveness of scleral buckling as a primary care surgery in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment among underprivileged cases unable to afford vitrectomy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research, 2015
Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the role of scleral buckling in the present era of pars plana vitrectomy and to evaluate the factors determining the outcome of buckling in terms of anatomical attachment of retina, visual recovery ...

Laser Scleral Buckling for Retinal Reattachment

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology, 1993
The holmium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Ho:YAG) laser produces infrared light that is absorbed inside scleral tissues, which increases local temperature, thereby shrinking collagen and inducing a buckle effect. Scleral indentation was induced in ten cadaver eyes by shrinkage of scleral collagen fibers by using a pulsed solid-state Ho:YAG (2.1-microns ...
