Glaucoma animal models in rabbits: State of the art and perspectives—A review

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 429-440, March 2025.
Glaucoma, a visual thief, is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) and loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). Selecting suitable animals for preclinical models is of great significance in research on the prevention, early screening, and effective treatments of glaucoma.

Pneumatic retinopexy: principles and practice

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1996
Pneumatic retinopexy (PR) is an alternative to scleral buckling for the surgical repair of selected retinal detachments. A gas bubble is injected into the vitreous cavity, and the patient is positioned so that the bubble closes the retinal break (s ...

The effect of axial length on pseudophakic retinal detachment

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 2, Page 146-151, March 2025.
Abstract Purpose The purpose of the study was to analyse the surgical management and outcome regarding axial length in the population affected by pseudophakic retinal detachment (PRD) 2015–2020. Method The patients included were from an observational cohort study of patients undergoing cataract surgery in the region of Skåne during 2015–2017. Data were

COMPARISON BETWEEN RELEASABLE SCLERAL BUCKLING AND VITRECTOMY IN PATIENTS WITH PHAKIC PRIMARY RHEGMATOGENOUS RETINAL DETACHMENT

open access: yesRetina, 2018
By comparing releasable scleral buckling and pars plana vitrectomy in the treatment of phakic patients with primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, we found that releasable scleral buckling and pars plana vitrectomy procedures have the same effects on

The Use of Tutoplast as an Adjunct in Scleral Buckle Procedure in Patients with Extremely Thin Sclera

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmic & Vision Research, 2021
Extremely thin sclera often necessitates abortion of scleral buckle procedures. In patients in whom a scleral buckle is desired, previous techniques have included the use of cyanoacrylate glue and continuing with surgery or placing donor tissue over the ...

Scleral Buckling under a Slit-lamp Illumination System with a Contact Wide-angle Viewing Lens Compared with an Indirect Ophthalmoscope

open access: yesKorean Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Purpose To investigate the outcomes of scleral buckling surgery performed under a slit-lamp illumination system (Visulux) with a contact wide-angle viewing lens (Mini Quad) in patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) and to compare these ...

Selection of surgical technique for retinal detachment with coloboma of the choroid

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1994
Four eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and coloboma of the choroid were managed by conventional scleral buckling (one eye); scleral buckling combined with lensectomy, vitrectomy, and fluid-air exchange (two eyes); and vitrectomy, silicone oil ...

Transient Resolution of Foveal Schisis Following Macula‐Involving Retinal Detachment in Juvenile X‐Linked Retinoschisis

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
We present the case of a 9‐year‐old boy with X‐linked retinoschisis (XLRS) who experienced transient resolution of foveal schisis after developing macula‐involving retinal detachment. Following successful scleral buckling surgery and retinal reattachment, foveal schisis reappeared.
