The Management of Refractory Dry Eye With Semi-Scleral Contact Lens
Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2018Abstract: We presented a case of refractory dry eye management with semi-scleral contact lens. Dry eye was associated with facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) palsy as a result of cerebellopontine angle tumor surgery. She was treated with several topical treatments and punctal plug. Despite the treatments, her symptoms still persisted.

The unique role of scleral lenses in contact lens practice
Contact Lens and Anterior Eye, 1999The advantages and disadvantages of scleral lenses are reviewed. The indications for scleral lenses are cases where other types of contact lens fail to provide a satisfactory result. In other cases, the intrinsic nature of scleral lenses makes them the modality of first choice.

Development of the gas‐permeable impression‐moulded scleral contact lens
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1989Abstract Although superceded by corneal hard and soft contact lenses for the correction of simple refractive error, the scleral lens still has numerous medical applications in modern ophthamological practice. However, a major problem with scleral lenses has been the limited wearing time due to corneal occlusion and consequent hypoxia.

Corneal Abscess on Mini-scleral Contact Lens: Clinical Case
Ophthalmology Research: An International Journal, 2023Mini-scleral lens’ are large diameter rigid lenses that are used to rehabilitate vision when the corneal shape is distorted from disease, scarring or after a corneal graft procedure, however, there are relatively few reports regarding their potential complications, in this case we describe the case of a corneal abscess in a mini-scleral lens wearer ...

A Scleral Soft Contact Lens Designed for the Postoperative Management of Pterygium Surgery
Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2007To introduce a new hydrophilic contact lens design to be used as a corneoscleral bandage for different types of conjunctival surgery and pterygium surgery. The soft lenses are fabricated in large diameters from 17.5 to 19 mm and have custom peripheral curvatures to guarantee a normal tear film circulation to allow for extended wear for 2 or 3 ...
