Comparison of flanged polypropylene scleral intraocular lens fixation with scleral sutured fixation
Canadian Journal of OphthalmologyTo compare the outcome of 2 intraocular lens (IOL) scleral fixation techniques: double-flanged polypropylene and Hoffman scleral pocket.Retrospective case series of all patients who underwent IOL scleral fixation by either the flange (flange group) or Hoffman scleral pocket (Hoffman group) techniques at the Kaplan Medical Center and the Edith Wolfson ...

Sutureless scleral fixation of intraocular lenses
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1997A technique is presented in which pars plana fixation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) is achieved by the transscleral passage of the haptics. The IOL used has three equidistant supple loops, each attached to an armed suture, which serve as haptics.

Friction knot to fixate scleral sutures
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2015A technique for fixating polypropylene sutures to the sclera is presented. The technique avoids certain risks of earlier techniques and enhances the speed and ease of the procedure. The author has no financial or proprietary interest in any material or method mentioned.

Scleral-Fixated Intraocular Lenses-Reply
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1988In Reply. —Despite an extensive literature survey, we had not come across the article by Malbran and colleagues. 1 In their article they describe three surgical techniques that use lens guide sutures for transportation with or without permanent fixation of the intraocular lens haptics. Malbran et al do not mention it, but their lens guide sutures make

Suture burial technique in scleral fixation
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2004The end of a scleral fixation suture may erode through the conjunctiva and become exposed. To avoid this, a scleral flap, autologous cornea, dura mater, or fascia lata patches have been used to cover the ends, and rotation of the knot into the tissue has been reported. An alternative technique to bury the end of the suture is described.
