Ultrasound biomicroscopy in the assessment of the intraocular lenses positioning in a transscleral fixation technique [PDF]
Purpose: To assess, through ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), the positioning of the intraocular lenses (IOL) haptics as related to the ciliary sulcus by using a scleral fixation technique; and to evaluate, as well, if two fixation points are sufficient to

Scleral Lens Sensor for Ocular Electrolyte Analysis [PDF]
AbstractThe quantitative analysis of tear analytes in point‐of‐care settings can enable early diagnosis of ocular diseases. Here, a fluorescent scleral lens sensor is developed to quantitatively measure physiological levels of pH, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, and Zn2+ ions. Benzenedicarboxylic acid, a pH probe, displays a sensitivity of 0.12 pH units within pH

Microstructure and growth of the lenses of schizochroal trilobite eyes [PDF]
Lenses within the schizochroal eyes of phacopine trilobites are made principally of calcite and characterisation of them using light microscopy and high-resolution electron imaging and diffraction has revealed an array of microstructural arrangements ...

Scleral-fixated intraocular lens opacification
Carlevale IOL is a hydrophilic acrylic single-piece lens specifically designed for intrascleral sutureless fixation. IOL opacification has not been reported for this lens, although there are no studies with long follow-up periods yet. We describe herein two cases of Carlevale IOL opacification six and ten months after surgery.

Anatomical success rate of pars plana vitrectomy for treatment of complex rhegmatogenous retinal detachment [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is preferred surgical procedure for the management of complex rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the anatomical results of primary PPV for the treatment of primary ...

Results and complications of scleral fixated (Sutured) posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation [PDF]
Optical rehabilitation of the patient with aphakia who cannot tolerate contact lenses present a therapeutic challenge. In the absence of capsular support, anterior chamber lenses have been widely used.
