Preserved scleral patch graft for unexpected extreme scleral thinning found at the scleral buckling procedure: A case report

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
Pre-existing scleral pathology is an important risk factor for globe rupture during scleral buckling procedures. We report here, the surgical management of an unexpected scleral pathology found at the scleral buckling procedure in a retinal detachment patient.

Time‐course characterization of intraocular pressure in murine steroid‐induced ocular hypertension: Effects of route, schedule, and concentration

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Steroid‐induced ocular hypertension is a useful mouse model for glaucoma, but published work rarely quantifies how route, dose, and schedule shape the intraocular pressure (IOP) time‐course—hindering reproducibility and forcing labs to pilot protocols.

Understanding the spacing of placodes in the eye: A comparative study across age and species

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The conjunctival placodes of the avian eye form in an intriguing and conserved sequence in a circular annulus around the cornea. These 13–16 placodes develop into papillae that are essential for inducing underlying intramembranous flat bones, known as scleral ossicles, which form an important part of the ocular skeleton.

Plug it, fill it and forget it!

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2022
Background: Management of posterior scleral perforation is commonly done with cryotherapy/laser or scleral patch graft depending on the size of perforation. However, for large perforations, the availability of donor sclera is always an issue. To overcome

Scleral patch graft as a rescue for infectious scleritis

open access: yesKerala Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
We report a case of a 68-year-old male who presented with redness and pain in the right eye with a previous history of pterygium surgery with mitomycin-C in the same eye 2 weeks before onset of symptoms. On examination, visual acuity in the right eye was counting fingers at 2 m improving to 6/24 with pinhole and the left eye was 6/18 improving to 6/12 ...

Tutoplast pericardium patch graft for scleral thinning following strabismus surgery [PDF]

open access: yesEye, 2013
Sir, The Tutoplast process is a scientific method of virally inactivating, preserving, and sterilising human tissue, which can be safely used as an allograft. The Tutoplast pericardium patch graft (Innovative Ophthalmic Products, Inc., Costa Mesa, CA, USA), supplied by IOP Ophthalmics in the United Kingdom, is comprised of low-profile collagen with ...

Ex Vivo Evaluation of Poly(Solketal Acrylate) Nanoparticles for Intravitreal Drug Delivery to the Posterior Eye Segment

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Nile Red‐loaded poly(solketal acrylate) nanoparticles enable fluorescence tracking and exhibit nontoxic profiles in retinal cells. Enhanced cellular uptake and deep retinal penetration after intravitreal injection highlight their excellent potential for targeted ocular drug delivery to the posterior segment of the eye.

A flexible arched artificial photoreceptor constructed by photodeformable liquid crystal polymers and its application in vision restoration

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
A flexible arched artificial photoreceptor with high stability and biocompatibility was fabricated by integrating liquid crystal polymers with polyvinylidene fluoride‐trifluoroethylene. This device exhibits robust photoelectric responses under low‐intensity illumination and demonstrates efficacy in restoring visual responses in blind rats following ...
