Sclerosing Cholangitis Induced by Formaldehyde Solution Injected Into the Biliary Tree of Rats

Abstract The histologic response of submandibular glands of eighteen male rats to the intraglandular injection of sodium morrhuate was investigated. Our studies demonstrated that the glandular parenchyma survived the insult and was partially regenerated by the end of the third month.

Chemical sclerosing cholangitis after injection of scolicidal solution.
The Italian journal of gastroenterology, 1995Sclerosing cholangitis may be due to developmental immunological, infective, vascular or chemical factors (1). Hydatid cysts of the liver may communicate with the biliary tree. This is the reason why intracystic injection of scolicidal solution before surgery may cause spreading of the solution into the bile ducts.
