Purpose. To compare the effectiveness and safety of carbon dioxide (CO2) laser‐assisted deep sclerectomy surgery (CLASS) and trabeculectomy (Trab) for treatment of primary open‐angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods. In this retrospective and comparative study, 77 eyes of 62 patients with POAG were studied and divided into the CLASS and Trab groups.

Internal sclerostomy with the Er:YAG laser using a gradient-index (GRIN) endoscope

To show that sclerostomy, a glaucoma filtering surgery, can be performed using an Er:YAG laser. Scarring at the filtering site, a recurrent problem, may be reduced through proper positioning of the sclerostomy by using an intraocular endoscope.
