Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes on scolopendrid centipedes (Chilopoda: Scolopendromorpha: Scolopendridae)

Zootaxa, 2006
Some taxonomic and nomenclatural inconsistencies in the Scolopendridae are clarified. Heterostoma cribriferum var. robustum Haase, 1887 is placed in synonymy under Ethmostigmus rubripes platycephalus (Newport, 1845), and the synonymy of Congobius Dobroruka, 1968 and Parotostigmus Pocock, 1896 (a valid subgenus of Otostigmus Porat, 1876) is formalized ...

A review of the types of some Otostigmus (Parotostigmus) (Scolopendromorpha, Scolopendridae, Otostigminae) of the Andes mountain range.

Zootaxa
Some species of the subgenus Parotostigmus Pocock, 1895 from South America are revised. Previously, 20 species and two subspecies of Parotostigmus were considered to be distributed throughout the Andes from Venezuela to Argentina, but after this study ...

Hydrogen cyanide-producing glands in a scolopender,Asanada n.sp. (Chilopoda, scolopendridae)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1979
A new type of defensive gland has been discovered in a scolopendromorph centipede,Asanada n.sp. The defensive secretion contains hydrogen cyanide and protein. It is produced in numerous unicellular glands, spread all over the body from the second to the next to the last body segment and over the legs.

Potential distribution of Akymnopellis chilensis (Gervais, 1847) (Scolopendridae, Scolopendromorpha, Chilopoda) through Random Forest and MaxEnt in Chilean Ecosystems

Biogeographia – The Journal of Integrative Biogeography
Akymnopellis chilensis (Gervais, 1847) (Scolopendridae, Scolopendromorpha, Chilopoda), a centipede species endemic to Chile, plays a crucial role in soil ecosystems, but its distribution is still poorly studied.

Venom apparatus and toxicity of the centipede Ethmostigmus rubripes (Chilopoda, Scolopendridae)

Journal of Morphology, 1990
AbstractThe venom apparatus of Ethmostigmus rubripes, a generalized predator, consists of the telopodites of the postcephalic segment, the basal article of which contains the venom gland. Within the gland, venom granules are concentrated in intracellular secretory granules, from which they are discharged into vacuoles in the cytoplasm of the secretory ...

Blind scolopendrid centipedes of the genus Cormocephalus from subterranean habitats in Western Australia (Myriapoda: Scolopendromorpha: Scolopendridae)

Invertebrate systematics, 2019
Only a single blind species is known in the centipede family Scolopendridae, representing the monotypic genus Tonkinodentus Schileyko, 1992, from Vietnam. All of more than 400 other species have four ocelli on each side of the cephalic plate.
