The Field Automatic Insect Recognition‐Device—A Non‐Lethal Semi‐Automatic Malaise Trap for Insect Biodiversity Monitoring: Proof of Concept

The FAIR‐Device, a novel nonlethal field tool, combines semi‐automatic image capture and AI‐based species identification to monitor insect biodiversity. In a 26‐day proof‐of‐concept evaluation, it recorded 431 individuals across diverse taxa, demonstrating potential as a cost‐effective solution for high‐resolution insect monitoring.

Palaeoendemic invertebrates weakly reflect palaeoendemic plants across a 52‐year‐old fire boundary

Patterns of aerial arthropod biomass and diversity from three regions of boreal Alaska

We documented aerial arthropod biomass and diversity over 4 years in three regions in boreal Alaska—two in central Alaska and one in southcentral Alaska. Traps yielded 115,078 specimens of 15 orders and 692 unique taxa. Mean aerial arthropod biomass was more than three times higher in Fairbanks than in Anchorage.

Allometric Scaling Reveals Evolutionary Constraint on Odonata Wing Cellularity via Critical Crack Length

This study utilizes WingSegment, a Computer‐Vision tool, to analyze wing and cell size relationships in 389 Odonata wings. Despite varying wing sizes, statistical analysis shows over 80% of cells measure between 0.5 and 1.5 mm, implying a link to the crack‐stopping function in insect wings.
