Optimization of the bi-oleothermal treatment process for wood preservation and fireproofing [PDF]
The bi-oleothermal© process (combination of oil and heat treatment) is a well mastered alternative method for wood protection. However, the fire behavior and resistance to decay of bi-oleothermally treated wood are not good enough to ensure performance ...

Biomass structure of Pinus sylvestris and Betula pendula forest ecosystems in pollution gradient near copper plant on the Southern Ural [PDF]
In the gradient of pollution from the Karabash copper smelter in the Southern Urals (55 degrees 29' N, 60 degrees 13' E) in predominantly pure Scots pine and white birch stands, 12 and 34 sample plots are established, respectively, on which 42 and 56 ...

Strength of Scots pine branches
Empirical measurements showed that the strength of a dead branch of Scots pine ( L.) was related to the second power of the branch diameter and the third power of the basic density of branch wood. The same factors affected also the strength of living branches. Especially, the contribution of wood density was important.
