Efficacy of Marine Electrical Resistivity Surveys to Determine Maximum Scour Depth and Scour Infill

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board
The maximum depth of bridge scour typically occurs during peak flood conditions when it is too dangerous to collect measurements. Often, the maximum depth is obscured by additional redeposited sediment. Applied geophysical methods are commonly used to detect the depth of scour infill and estimate maximum scour depth.

Prediction of Maximum Scour Depth at Bed Sills

1999
Bed sills are sometimes built to limit the amount of material eroded from degrading streams. The construction of these structures leads to the development of local scour downstream of them. The maximum scour depth was evaluated in the past by the authors under the conditions of no sediment feed and uniform bed material.
