Piezosurgical partial ostectomy of the incisive bone for an ossifying fibroma removal in a 4‐year‐old Warmblood gelding

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ossifying fibromas are uncommon in horses and complete surgical excision with premaxillectomy, maxillectomy or mandibulectomy is recommended. Piezosurgery has been previously used in equines only in one study. Objective To report a case of ossifying fibroma treated with piezosurgery and to describe its follow‐up.

Impact of Outlet Configuration on Scour at Upstream of Cross River Structure: An Experimental Study

open access: yesJournal of Engineering
This study is important since it investigates the effectiveness of sediment removal near hydropower intake by flushing. The method can replace the current expensive method for sediment removal by dredging. The sediment transport mechanism, maximum scour

Laboratory study of the effect of the number of groin in the radial arrangement of permeable groin on the maximum scouring rate of the nose [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی و مدیریت ساخت, 2023
The scouring phenomenon is one of the issues that are always important in the design of various types of hydraulic structures; among these structures is the groin. These structures prevent their erosion by diverting the flow from the river bank. The flow

Quaternary sediment patterns in the Weddell Sea: relations and environmental conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Sediment patterns such as texture, composition, and facies from three selected areas of the Antarctic continental margin of the Weddell Sea are discussed in relation to environmental variations of the Quaternary hydrosphere and kryosphere.

Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.

Behavior of Shared Suction Anchors in Clay Overlying Silty Sand Soils Considering the Souring Effect

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This paper investigates, through finite element analysis, the bearing capacity behavior of the shared suction anchors in clay-covered silt soil layers, considering the effects of soil scour.

Seabed corrugations beneath an Antarctic ice shelf revealed by autonomous underwater vehicle survey: Origin and implications for the history of Pine Island Glacier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ice shelves are critical features in the debate about West Antarctic ice sheet change and sea level rise, both because they limit ice discharge and because they are sensitive to change in the surrounding ocean.

Antioxidant and Cytotoxic Properties of Piper spp. Volatile Oils That Inhibit Pathogenic Microorganisms

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, EarlyView.
The samples were fungicidal against Candida, with MICs ranging from 62.5 to 250 μg/mL, and fungistatic against Penicillium adametzii, Aspergillus flavus and A. niger, with MICs of 1000 μg/mL. The volatile oils of Piper aduncum and Piper marginatum reduced the viability of MDA‐MB231 cells.

An investigation into the potential losses of fish on the filter plates at the Hodder Water Treatment Works Stocks Reservoir [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Stocks Reservoir is situated amidst the Forest of Bowland in the upper reaches of the old river valley of the Hodder. The reservoir was built in 1927 for the Fylde Water Board who primarily supplied water to Blackpool.

A New Method for Mixed Matrix Composite Membranes Preparation Using Direct Spray‐Coating Technique

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The development of membranes has evolved over the last years as an effective CO2 separation technology to fight the environmental impact of post‐combustion processes. In this regard, the upgrade of conventional polymers has been approached through different strategies to overcome their permeance‐selectivity trade‐off.
