Numerical Study on Shock Train Characteristics in Divergent Channels

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
In any supersonic intake, the flow decelerates from supersonic to subsonic speed through a constant or divergent channel “isolator” by a series of bifurcated compression shock waves referred to as a shock train.

Design optimization of a 2-d scramjet inlet

open access: yes, 2019
A generic 2-D scramjet inlet is analyzed with SU2 software. Accuracy of three turbulence models are compared and a mesh dependence study is performed for the case. Results are compared favorably with experimental data from Idris et al. (2014).

Flow distribution of supercritical hydrocarbon fuel in parallel regenerative cooling channels under non-uniform heat flux

open access: yesPropulsion and Energy
Regenerative cooling technology is an important approach for thermal protection in scramjet engines. Non-uniform axial and circumferential heat flow distribution on the combustor leads to improper flow distribution, resulting in reduced cooling ...
