The Ship Screw

Our next subject will be the ship screw which is upto now the most important device for hydrodynamic propulsion. It consists of a number of helicoidally shaped blades connected to a hub. The number of blades can vary from two upto about six. The hub is mounted on a shaft (figure 3.1) which is rotated by the engine.
