Fast Track to the Overdoped Regime of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Thin Films via Electrochemical Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overdoping high temperature superconductors, such as YBa2Cu3O7‐δ (YBCO), is expected to maxime the critical current density by optimising the condensation energy for a given defect landscape, providing new thrust for the development of fusion enabling coated conductors. Here, precise oxygen control is achieved via an electrochemical method allowing for

Analysis of wedge penetration in clay [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
A variety of devices designed to penetrate soil is used in soil engineering practice to measure soil properties or to emplace instrumentation, although the mechanics of the steady state penetration process is not well understood.

Cyclic Olefin Copolymers as Versatile Materials for Advanced Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cyclic olefin copolymers (COCs) are presented as highly versatile materials combining tunable synthesis, excellent optical properties, and mechanical robustness. Their potential spans microfluidics, bioengineering, and advanced electronics, while emerging self‐healing and sustainable solutions highlight future opportunities.

Advantages of Using a Seismic Piezocone Penetration Test for Analysis of a Single Screw In Situ Displacement Pile in Silty Soils

open access: yesIndian Geotechnical Journal
Abstract The determination of pile bearing capacity using the load–settlement relationship has been widely recognised as an effective means of directly determining the bearing capacity of a pile through in situ tests. Among the various techniques available for such investigations, the seismic cone penetration test (SCPTu) stands out as one of

Coating Artificial Spider Silk Fiber with Magnetic FeCo: An Effective Strategy for Creating a Flexible Magneto‐Responsive Material

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An original method is presented for producing artificial spider silk fibers with magnetic and magnetomechanical responsiveness, which consists in coating them with a nanometer‐thick layer of FeCo alloy by sputtering deposition. The challenge of combining organic materials and inorganic magnetic nanostructures is addressed, thus taking a step forward ...

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

In situ measurement of root reinforcement using corkscrew extraction method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mechanical root reinforcement is an important parameter to evaluate for stability analysis of rooted slopes. The contribution of roots is however difficult to quantify in situ without time-consuming methods or heavy equipment.

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Investigation of lateral load resistance of laterally loaded pile in sandy soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Investigation of the lateral load resistance of pile is made by laboratory model test on single and group piles. The experiments are carried out with varying size, spacing of piles in group and length to diameter ratio (L/d) of the piles.

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.
