An Archimedes' Screw for Light
Abstract An Archimedes' Screw captures water, feeding energy into it by lifting it to a higher level. We introduce the first instance of an optical Archimedes' Screw, and demonstrate how this system is capable of capturing light, dragging it and amplifying it.

Experimental testing of reinforced end-notched glulam beams [PDF]
Notches made at the ends of timber beams significantly decrease load carrying capacity of a structural member. This paper presents an experimental research on bending behaviour of end-notched glulam beams, with and without reinforcement.

Transforaminal “in-out-in” screw technique for posterior C2 fixation in cases with a narrow C2 pedicle: anatomical considerations, technical notes, and preliminary clinical results [PDF]
Numerous techniques for C2 screw fixation have been recently reported. However, concerns remain regarding the risk of spinal cord or vertebral artery injury and inadequate biomechanical stability. To our knowledge, the specific transforaminal “in-out-in”
