The Influence of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Inoculation on micro-propagated hybrid yam (Dioscorea spp.) growth and root knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) suppression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Article Purchased; Published online: 12 October 2016The use of commercial inoculants containing non-indigenous arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) is an emerging technology towards improving crop production in Africa.

First Report of the Spiral Nematode Scutellonema brachyurum on Lilyturf in the United States

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2011
Lilyturf (Liriope muscari (Decne.) L.H. Bailey), an herbaceous plant, is commonly used in landscaping including borders (along sidewalks, driveways, and trees) and mass plantings as groundcover in the southeastern United States. In December of 2009, a soil sample was submitted to our lab for diagnosis of plant-parasitic nematodes from an area planted ...

Ultrastructure of Male Sexual Apparatus of Scutellonema brachyurum.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Electron micrographs of serial sections show that the male sexual apparatus of Scutellonema brachyurum includes two morphologically identical spicules. Each is composed of a swollen tubular head, crescentic shaft, and leaf-like blade with membranous velum expanded from the central trunk.

Ecology and pathogenicity of the Hoplolaimidae (Nemata) from the sahelian zone of West Africa. 2. Laboratory studies on Scutellonema cavenessi Sher, 1964 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
La biologie du nématode apparaît être sous la dépendance de la température du sol, l'humidité du sol, la plante hôte, la plante sur laquelle le nématode a effectué son cycle précédent, la durée de la période de culture, l'âge du nématode et l'état ...

DYNAMICS OF SOIL NEMATODES AND EARTHWORMS IN URBAN VEGETABLE IRRIGATED WITH WASTEWATER IN THE NAIROBI RIVER BASIN, KENYA

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2010
The effects of heavy metals lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd) and Cromium (Cr) on nematode communities and earthworm density and biomass were studied in the wastewater irrigated farms of the Nairobi river basin. The levels of Cr and Pb in the wastewater were below

Changes in the population and diversity of plant parasitic nematodes and their effects on sugarcane growth at Wonji‐Shoa Sugar Estate, Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
In Wonji‐Shoa Sugar Estate (WSSE), sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrid) yields have declined by about 48% over the last 70 years. One of the causes for the decline is assumed to be the long‐term monoculture production system that results in the buildup of ...

Susceptibility of Soybean to Scutellonema brachyurum.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Yield responses of 24 soybean cultivars to ScuteIlonema brachyurum were evaluated in a naturally infested field. Yields between treated and untreated plots were not different (P = 0.05) for the nematicide x cultivar interaction. D-D reduced soil nematode population levels by 93% at 45 days after planting and 59 days after fumigation.

open access: yes, 1995
Les taux de population du nématode évoluent au rythme des saisons, avec un accroissement pendant la saison des pluies suivi d'une réduction lors de la saison sèche durant laquelle le nématode entre en anhydrobiose; Les taux de population endoracinaire ...
