Foraging strategies of the external mycelium of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Glomus intraradices and Scutellospora calospora

Applied Soil Ecology, 2008
The responsiveness of the external mycelium of Glomus intraradices and Scutellospora calospora was tested in a multiple-choice experimental system in which mycelium encountered patches amended with nitrogen (N) or phosphorus (P), either alone or in combination with a host plant.

Scutellospora crenulata, a new species of Glomales from La Gran Sabana, Venezuela

Canadian Journal of Botany, 2001
A newly discovered glomalean fungus, Scutellospora crenulata, is described and illustrated. This species possesses a complex spore ornamentation composed of dome-like sub-polygonal papillae partly separated by pits. The presence of a "beaded" spore wall component is reported for the first time in a member of Gigasporaceae.Key words: arbuscular ...

Intraspecific ITS Polymorphism inScutellospora castanea(Glomales, Zygomycota) Is Structured within Multinucleate Spores

Fungal Genetics and Biology, 1999
Polymorphism of the internal transcribed spacers (ITS) of the ribosomal DNA in Scutellospora castanea (Glomales, Zygomycota) and its organization among spores were evaluated. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification with ITS1/ITS4 primers yielded several fragments of different lengths, even from single spores.

Taxonomic and phylogenetic divergence among fiveScutellosporaspecies based on comparative developmental sequences

Mycologia, 1995
Morphological characters synthesized from differentiation of mycorrhizae and spores were de- fined developmentally and their stability examined among eight organisms of five Scutellospora species (Glomales, Zygomycetes). Morphology and architec? ture of fungal hyphae at entry points in Sudan-grass roots were similar to that observed in other Scutellos?

Mycelium development and architecture, and spore production ofScutellospora reticulatain monoxenic culture with Ri T-DNA transformed carrot roots

Mycologia, 2003
Mycelium development and architecture and spore production were studied in Scutellospora reticulata from single-spore isolates grown with Ri T-DNA transformed carrot root-organ culture in monoxenic system. Culture establishment, anastomosis occurrence and auxiliary cell development also were examined.

Scutellospora sp. A Mycorrhizal Fungal Species in the Management of Root Knot Nematode, Meloidogyne incognita in Tomato

Madras Agricultural Journal, 2015
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the biocontrol potential of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus, Scutellospora sp. against root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on tomato under glasshouse conditions. Different dosages of Scutellospora sp. @ 5g, 10g, 15g, 20g and 25g/plant were tested against M.

Construction of genomic phage libraries of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Glomus mosseae and Scutellospora castanea and isolation of ribosomal RNA genes

Mycorrhiza, 1996
Genomic phage libraries of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi were constructed for the first time, and clones containing ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes isolated for Glomus mosseae and Scutellospora castanea. The number of rDNA clones per library indicates that these libraries can be also used to isolate genes with low copy numbers. Sequences of the 18S rRNA gene,
