Ant‐Associated Beetle Fauna in Bulgaria: A Review and New Data

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
The rich myrmecofauna in Bulgaria, comprising about 170 species, constitutes favorable settings for a diverse associated fauna. An attempt to summarize the fragmented faunal data on this ecological group in Bulgaria, together with inclusion of new data, has resulted in a comprehensive list of 121 beetle species from 14 families, obligate or facultative

Resolving the intergeneric phylogeny of the large carrion beetles (Staphylinidae: Silphinae: Silphini)

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 168-179, January 2025.
We provide a robust estimate of the phylogeny of the tribe Silphini using five molecular markers and comprehensive taxon sampling across all 12 genera. Our study provides the first biogeographical insight into the origin of the tribe Silphini suggesting a most likely origin across Neotropical, Oriental and/or Australian regions.

Myrmecophily in beetles (Coleoptera): evolutionary patterns and biological mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Socially parasitic myrmecophily has evolved numerous times in arthropods, but myrmecophilous lineages are non-randomly distributed across phylogeny. Evolution of this way of life is heavily biased towards the Coleoptera, within this order towards rove ...

Patterns of aerial arthropod biomass and diversity from three regions of boreal Alaska

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 826-855, September 2024.
We documented aerial arthropod biomass and diversity over 4 years in three regions in boreal Alaska—two in central Alaska and one in southcentral Alaska. Traps yielded 115,078 specimens of 15 orders and 692 unique taxa. Mean aerial arthropod biomass was more than three times higher in Fairbanks than in Anchorage.

FORGOTTEN AULACOTHORAX BOHEMAN, 1858, A SENIOR SYNONYM OF ORTHALTICA CROTCH, 1873 (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE: GALERUCINAE: ALTICINI) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Discovery of the holotype of Aulacothorax exilis Boheman, 1858, originally described in Scydmaeninae (Staphylinidae), in the collections of Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet Stockholm in Sweden revealed that this species is actually a leaf beetle (Chrysomelidae)

Endogean beetles (Coleoptera) of Guatemala: deep soil sampling and illustrated DNA barcode library

open access: yesSoil Organisms
We document the diversity of endogean beetles discovered by us in the deep soil in Guatemala. They belong to eight families: Carabidae, Histeridae, Jacobsoniidae (first record for the country), Ptiliidae, Staphylinidae (subfamilies Aleocharinae ...
