LEAF: Logger for ecological and atmospheric factors

open access: yesHardwareX, 2019
The fields of meteorology, surface- and groundwater hydrology, and forestry are often decoupled despite the fact that they occur simultaneously at the intersection of living systems and the physical environment.

A Comparison of Forest Biomass and Conventional Harvesting Effects on Estimated Erosion, Best Management Practice Implementation, Ground Cover, and Residual Woody Debris in Virginia

open access: yesBiomass, 2023
Expanding markets for renewable energy feedstocks have increased demand for woody biomass. Concerns associated with forest biomass harvesting include increased erosion, the applicability of conventional forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs) for ...

Association Between Dinutuximab Beta Exposure and Post‐End‐of‐Treatment Survival in Neuroblastoma: A Weighted Patient‐Level Analysis of Three Clinical Studies

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The association between exposure to dinutuximab beta (DB) and event‐free survival (EFS) or overall survival (OS) of neuroblastoma patients was assessed using data collected during three clinical trials (five cohorts). Methods A systematic review (March 2026) was conducted to identify relevant studies (prospective; registered DB ...

Admixture Mapping Reveals Candidate Regions for Methotrexate Neurotoxicity Susceptibility: A Reducing Disparities in Acute Leukemia Consortium Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurotoxicity is a rare, often dose‐limiting adverse effect of methotrexate (MTX) therapy that disproportionally affects Latino children. Factors contributing to the observed disparity are not well understood. This study leveraged admixture mapping to identify genetic regions associated with MTX‐related neurotoxicity susceptibility ...

Infant Embryonal CNS Tumors: Molecular Insights and Treatment Considerations for Contemporary Pediatric Neuro‐Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Embryonal tumors comprise the majority of malignant central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms diagnosed in children under 3 years of age. Compared with their counterparts in older children, these tumors exhibit distinct molecular biology and a more aggressive clinical phenotype, while their management is complicated by the heightened ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Factors influencing eastern wild turkey population growth in northeastern South Dakota

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin
Eastern wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) in northeastern South Dakota, USA, appeared to be expanding soon after reintroduction in the 1990s. However, recent hunter success trends suggest a population decline in the region. While the cause of

Interferon beta drives therapy resistance in a patient‐derived model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Interferon type 1 (IFN‐1) production and signaling is associated with the acquisition of therapy resistance, following chronic DNA damage, via Interferon‐related DNA damage resistance signature (IRDS) gene expression. An alternative, DNA damage‐independent role of sustained IFN‐1 mediated resistance was identified and characterized by the emergence of ...
