The phenolic complex in flaxseed [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Flaxseed is the richest plant source of the lignan secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG). In flaxseed, SDG exists in an oligomeric structure with 3-hydroxy-3-methyl glutaric acid (HMGA) forming a phenolic complex together with p-coumaric acid and ...

Extracting Biomolecular Interactions Using Semantic Parsing of Biomedical Text

open access: yes, 2015
We advance the state of the art in biomolecular interaction extraction with three contributions: (i) We show that deep, Abstract Meaning Representations (AMR) significantly improve the accuracy of a biomolecular interaction extraction system when ...

Exactly-solvable models of proton and neutron interacting bosons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We describe a class of exactly-solvable models of interacting bosons based on the algebra SO(3,2). Each copy of the algebra represents a system of neutron and proton bosons in a given bosonic level interacting via a pairing interaction.

Techno‐Economic Analysis of Polylactic Acid from Corn Stover: Understanding Uncertainty and Variability via Artificial Intelligence Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study analyses the uncertainty and variability existing in the economic performance of polylactic acid (PLA) production, via integrating techno‐economic analysis with process models and Monte Carlo simulation enabled by artificial intelligence. The results show that the minimum selling price varies from $2,107 to $3076/t PLA.

Impact of Partially Substituting Canola Meal with Solvent-Extracted Distillers Grain with Solubles as a Protein Source on Milk Production in a Commercial Holstein Dairy Herd

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
The removal of corn oil from dried distillers grains using solvent extraction allows a higher level of inclusion for solvent-extracted dried distillers grains with solubles (SDG) in rations and reduces the risk of milk fat depression in lactating ...

SDG 13-Climate Action & Open Science: Accelerating Practices

open access: yesJournal of Science Policy & Governance, 2022
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and open science are symbiotic processes. No SDG reveals this connection more strongly than SDG 13-Climate Action. This perspective uses the SDGs as a lens to explore open science practices and prospects. It illustrates, through the concept of Net-Zero, how open science has been an accelerator of SDG 13-Climate ...

A generative model for sparse, evolving digraphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Generating graphs that are similar to real ones is an open problem, while the similarity notion is quite elusive and hard to formalize. In this paper, we focus on sparse digraphs and propose SDG, an algorithm that aims at generating graphs similar to ...

Ecosystem‐Centered Robot Design: Toward Ecoresorbable Sustainability Robots (ESRs)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Robots exploring natural ecosystems can support monitoring and conservation, but must adopt ecosystem‐centered design to avoid pollution, waste, and damage. This review proposes guidelines for co‐designing ecoresorbable sustainability robots (ESRs), uniting materials, robotics, and ecological contexts in a single framework.
