Synthesis and Electronic Structure of the Fractionally Occupied Double Perovskite EuTa2O6 with Ordered Europium Vacancies

Two‐dimensional electronic states are the foundation of modern semiconductor technology. Here, we report molecular‐beam epitaxy growth of fractional double perovskite, EuTa2O6. Reciprocal space mapping and transmission electron microscopy confirm a layered ordering of A‐site cations.

Colossal Cryogenic Electro‐Optic Response Through Metastability in Strained BaTiO3 Thin Films

Utilizing the thermodynamic theory of optical properties, a colossal cryogenic electro‐optic response in BaTiO3 thin films is designed and demonstrated by stabilizing a low symmetry metastable monoclinic phase via epitaxial strain tuning with an electro‐optic response reaching ≈2516 pm V−1 at 5 K. The highly porous microelectrodes have been designed and printed on culture membranes, allowing to record electrophysiological neural activity for rodent brain slices.
