Geometric Characterization of LEO–GEO Inter‐Satellite Links for Bidirectional Communications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Incorporating geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites can extend communication services far beyond the reach of terrestrial infrastructure. A key enabler of such architectures is the establishment of inter‐satellite links (ISLs) between LEOs and GEOs to support bidirectional communications.

Advanced Hybrid Techniques for Cyberattack Detection and Defense in IoT Networks

open access: yesSECURITY AND PRIVACY, Volume 8, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
ABSTRACT The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a vast network of devices connected to the Internet, making it easier for users to connect to modern technology. However, the complexity of these networks and the large volume of data pose significant challenges in protecting them from persistent cyberattacks, such as distributed denial‐of‐service (DDoS)

Enterprise Network Security Using Few‐Shot Meta‐Learning

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper involves a few‐shot learning study that uses model‐agnostic meta‐learning. A meta‐dataset was curated by combining six benchmark network intrusion detection datasets by parsing network traffic data from PCAP files. An MAML model performs meta‐training, validation and meta‐testing before and after fine‐tuning.

The Challenges in ML-Based Security for SDN [PDF]

open access: yes2018 2nd Cyber Security in Networking Conference (CSNet), 2018
Machine learning (ML) is gaining popularity in the network security domain as more network-enabled devices get connected, as malicious activities become stealthier, and as new technologies like Software Defined Networking (SDN) emerge. From the application layer, ML-based SDN security models control the routing/switching of an entire Software Defined ...

Graph neural network‐based attack prediction for communication‐based train control systems

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract The Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) have emerged as one of the key security challenges to industrial control systems. APTs are complex multi‐step attacks, and they are naturally diverse and complex. Therefore, it is important to comprehend the behaviour of APT attackers and anticipate the upcoming attack actions.

Study of SDN intrusion intent identification algorithm based on Bayesian attack graph

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2023
Since the existing software defined network (SDN) security prediction methods do not consider the attack cost and the impact of controller vulnerabilities on SDN security, a Bayesian attack graph-based algorithm to assessing SDN intrusion intent was ...

Equity–Equality Tensions in Police Social Media Communication With Socially Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods: The Case of Instagram

open access: yesInformation Systems Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study draws on Instagram‐related data to examine how and why the equity and equality principles of fairness govern police communication with socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods on social media. Using the computationally intensive theory construction methodology and drawing on institutional theory and the framework for the interplay of ...
