The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Phase 1, First‐In‐Human, Single‐/Multiple‐Ascending Dose Study of Iluzanebart in Healthy Volunteers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of iluzanebart, a fully human monoclonal antibody TREM2 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2) agonist, after single‐ (SAD) and multiple‐ascending‐dose (MAD) administration.

Universal Proteomic Signature After Exercise‐Induced Muscle Injury in Muscular Dystrophies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Several neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) are characterized by progressive muscle damage and are marked by the elevation of circulating muscle proteins from activity‐related injury. Despite a diverse array of genetic drivers, many NMDs share similar patterns of exercise intolerance and higher concentrations of muscle injury proteins ...

Sea ice floe segmentation in close-range optical imagery using active contour and foundation models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The size of sea ice floes is a key factor influencing ice coverage, albedo, wave propagation through ice-covered waters, and ocean-atmosphere energy exchanges. Floe size can be observed by processing visual-range imagery from ships, aircraft, or satellites.

Eurasian Cooling Patterns in the CMIP5 Climate Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The Arctic has warmed dramatically compared to the global average over the last few decades. During this same period, there have been strong cooling trends observed in the wintertime, near-surface air temperature over central Eurasia, a phenomenon known as Eurasian cooling. Many studies have suggested that the loss of sea ice, especially in the Barents

Seasonal variations in seismic noise emissions of Arctic sea ice recorded by deep-water ocean bottom seismometers: implications for ice deformation and swell generation

open access: yes, 2023
Stress and deformation of sea ice produces icequakes and other seismic emissions that can be exploited to monitor the stress state of the sea ice cover. Ambient and transient seismic wavefields recorded by seismic sensors on ice floes have also been used
