Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Pilot study and evaluation of a SMMR-derived sea ice data base [PDF]

open access: yes
Data derived from the Nimbus 7 scanning multichannel microwave radiometer (SMMR) are discussed and the types of problems users have with satellite data are documented. The development of software for assessing the SMMR data is mentioned. Two case studies

Domain associated with zinc fingers‐containing NF90‐NF45 complex inhibits m6A modification of primary microRNA by suppressing METTL3/14 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NF90–NF45 functions as a negative regulator of methyltransferase‐like 3/14 (METTL3/14)‐mediated N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) modification on primary microRNAs (pri‐miRNAs). NF90–NF45 binds to anti‐oncogenic pri‐miRNAs and inhibits their m6A modification, thereby suppressing the biogenesis of anti‐oncogenic miRNAs.

Intensified Arctic warming under greenhouse warming by vegetation–atmosphere–sea ice interaction [PDF]

open access: yes
Observations and modeling studies indicate that enhanced vegetation activities over high latitudes under an elevated CO2 concentration accelerate surface warming by reducing the surface albedo. In this study, we suggest that vegetation-atmosphere-sea ice

Anticancer sensitivities and biological characteristics of HCT116 cells resistant to the selective poly(ADP‐ribose) glycohydrolase inhibitor

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed alterations of PAR metabolism‐related proteins in PARG inhibitor‐resistant HCT116RPDD cells. Although PARG levels remained unchanged, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited reduced PARP1 and ARH3 expression and elevated PAR levels. Interestingly, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited slightly elevated intracellular NAD+/NADH and ATP levels. Our findings suggest a

Effect of ice algal community on the increase of chlorophyll a concentration during spring in coastal water of the Sea of Okhotsk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A seasonal study of size fractionated chlorophyll α concentration was conducted weekly in Monbetsu Harbor from October 1996 to November 1997 to investigate the annually persistent occurrence of the spring peak of the chlorophyll α concentration in the ...

Longitudinal Study of Salivary Biomarkers in the Definition of Clinico‐Molecular Progression of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Longitudinal changes in salivary biomarkers in Parkinson’s disease (PD) from early (T0) to 4‐year follow‐up (T1), quantified by ELISA: oligomeric and total α‐synuclein, total and phosphorylated tau, MAP1LC3B (autophagy), and TNFa (inflammation). Blue arrows indicate direction of change at T1 vs T0 (up = increase; down = decrease).
