Estimation of sea ice parameters from sea ice model with assimilated ice concentration and SST [PDF]
Abstract. A multi-category numerical sea ice model CICE along with data assimilation was used to derive sea ice parameters in the region of Baffin Bay and Labrador Sea. The assimilation of ice concentration was performed using the data derived from Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR-E & AMSR2).

A NEW WEATHER FILTER FOR REDUCING WEATHER EFFECT IN CALCULATING SEA ICE CONCENTRATION FROM AMSR2 DATA [PDF]
Ice concentration is one of the most fundamental parameters of sea ice which can be calculated from brightness temperatures measured by passive microwave radiometers such as AMSR2 onboard satellites.

Characterization of Moisture Sources for Austral Seas and Relationship with Sea Ice Concentration [PDF]
In this study, the moisture sources acting over each sea (Weddell, King Haakon VII, East Antarctic, Amundsen-Bellingshausen, and Ross-Amundsen) of the Southern Ocean during 1980–2015 are identified with the FLEXPART Lagrangian model and by using two approaches: backward and forward analyses.

Optimization of the k-nearest-neighbors model for summer Arctic Sea ice prediction
The Arctic sea ice plays a significant role in climate-related processes and has a considerable effect on humans, however accurately predicting the Arctic sea ice concentration is still challenging.

Intercomparison of passive microwave sea ice concentration retrievals over the high‐concentration Arctic sea ice [PDF]
Measurements of sea ice concentration from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) using seven different algorithms are compared to ship observations, sea ice divergence estimates from the Radarsat Geophysical Processor System, and ice and water surface type classification of 59 wide‐swath synthetic aperture radar (SAR) scenes.

VALIDATION OF ASMR2 SEA ICE CONCENTRATION DATA USING MODIS DATA [PDF]
Passive microwave radiometer AMSR2 was launched by JAXA in May 2012 on-board GCOM-W satellite. The antenna diameter of AMSR2 is 2.0 m which provide highest spatial resolution as a passive microwave radiometer in space.

Southern Ocean sea ice concentration budgets of five ocean-sea ice reanalyses
AbstractIn this study, sea ice concentration (SIC) budgets were calculated for five ocean-sea ice reanalyses (CFSR, C-GLORSv7, GLORYS12v1, NEMO-EnKF and ORAS5), in the Southern Ocean and compared with observations. Benefiting from the assimilation of SIC, the reanalysis products display a realistic representation of sea ice extent as well as sea ice ...

The 2018 North Greenland polynya observed by a newly introduced merged optical and passive microwave sea-ice concentration dataset [PDF]
Observations of sea-ice concentration are available from satellites year-round and almost weather-independently using passive microwave radiometers at resolutions down to 5 km.

Spatial-temporal variations of one-year ice in Antarctic different regions, 1988–2020
In order to increase the comparability of Antarctic sea ice changes, we proposed a new method to quantitatively assess the spatial–temporal variation characteristics of Antarctic one-year ice based on daily Antarctic sea ice concentration data provided ...

Assimilation of sea surface temperature, sea ice concentration and sea ice drift in a model of the Southern Ocean [PDF]
Current ocean models have relatively large errors and biases in the Southern Ocean. The aim of this study is to provide a reanalysis from 1985 to 2006 assimilating sea surface temperature, sea ice concentration and sea ice drift. In the following it is also shown how surface winds in the Southern Ocean can be improved using sea ice drift estimated from
