Tidal Sea Level Oscillations in the Sea of Azov

<p>The Sea of Azov is the most isolated and shallow sea of the World Ocean. Longterm hourly data from 14 coastal tide gauges were used to study the features of tides in the Sea of Azov. Spectral analysis showed well-defined spectral peaks at tidal diurnal and semidiurnal frequencies.

The microphytobenthos of the Sea of Azov

This review examines the state of knowledge of microphytobenthos of the Sea of Azov. The insufficient number of floristic studies and the almost complete lack of quantitative data on populations and communities of microalgae in different marine ecotopes demonstrate the relevance of studying the microphytobenthos.

Based on the data of long-term observations, principal hydrological and hydrochemical characteristics of the Sea of Azov such as the water temperature, salinity, and oxygen and nutrient contents are assessed. Features of the seasonal and interannual variations under the action of natural and anthropogenic factors are shown.
