Towards Common Ground: Perspectives on Energy Transitions in Canadian Oil and Gas Producing Municipalities

open access: yesCanadian Public Administration, EarlyView.
Abstract Oil and gas producing municipalities host Canada's highest‐emitting industries while facing economic and social risks as the country pursues carbon neutrality. Understanding how these communities envision their economic futures, and the barriers and enablers they encounter in pursuing low‐carbon opportunities, can inform decision‐makers ...

Uncertainty‐Aware Visual Analysis of Force Networks in 2D Granular Materials

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Uncertainty in experimental measurements makes it challenging to determine which features are intrinsic to the phenomenon and which are most stable and reliable. Granular materials, such as sand, form a complex system in which the forces between individual particles influence the material's macroscopic behavior.

Evaluating a structured expert elicitation approach for adaptive conservation management based on lessons from five years in practice

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Adaptive management of threatened species relies on having ex ante estimates of species’ responses to different interventions. Structured expert elicitation is often used to generate these estimates, but comparisons of these expert‐predicted outcomes with observed results are rare.

Preference‐performance relationship in the thistle tortoise beetle: Implications for its realised host range

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
There was a positive relationship between adult preference and larval performance. However, the strength of the relationship ranged from weak to strong depending on the measure of adult preference. The adult beetle showed substantial flexibility in host plant selection and equal performance across most thistle hosts.
