Petroleum Lumps on the Surface of the Sea
Science, 1970Lumps of crude oil residue floating on the sea surface have been observed widely. Samples were taken with surface-skimming nets in the Mediterranean Sea and eastern North Atlantic Ocean; their displacement volumes were as large as 0.5 milliliter per square meter.

Sea surface infrared emissivity with surface reflection
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012Sea surface infrared emissivity is an important parameter in oceanic remote sensing. Early models of sea surface infrared emissivity ignored the surface reflections, leading to an underestimation with measurements over 0.02 in the 8–12 µm wavelength window for large zenith observation angles.

Reflection and scattering from the sea surface have been extensively studied both experimentally and from a theoretical standpoint. This paper focuses on reverberation processes because, due to the relative ease of measurement, a vast store of experimental data has been amassed.

Sea Surface Temperature is the most popular parameter under analysis to sense the variations in Sea. Better sensors clubbed with still better recording instruments, over the period of time, have made analysis easier for the researchers to investigate the dependencies amongst various parameters.

Satellite observations of sea surface temperature and sea surface wind coupling in the Japan Sea
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2006We investigate ocean‐atmosphere coupling in the Japan Sea by using microwave satellite measurements of sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface wind from 1 June 2002 to 31 December 2004. First, it is observed that instantaneous wind speeds are modified by SST front meanders in widespread areas in the Japan Sea.

Interannual Variations of Sea Surface Temperature in the Black Sea
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018This study uses high-resolution blended anomaly data from The United States (US) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in order to analyze Sea Surface Temperature (SST) variability in the Black Sea over the 1981–2015 period. The linear regression indicates that there has been a slight increase in SST with a rate of $0.04\pm 0.005$ °C/

Remote Sensing of the Sea Surface
Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics, 1988the sea surface provide means for measuring the spatial characteristics of surface waves and the spatial distributions of surface and near-surface oceanic properties over a large area at, in essence, one instant of time. As the techniques have developed, the oceanographer and the marine meteorologist have been provided wit h new sets of eyes that have ...

A polarimetric sea surface backscattering model
2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009An extended Bragg scattering model, for fully polarimetric SAR data, is here proposed for describing sea surface scattering. Moreover, the model is considered to examine the scattering contributions from sea surface and detected dark areas due to the presence of anthropogenic and biogenic slicks. Experiments are conducted on fully polarimetric C- and L-

Sea surface effects on the sea surface temperature estimation by remote sensing
International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1995Abstract By using a sea surface temperature profiler buoy, the behaviour of the vertical temperature profile near the sea surface was observed in Mutsu Bay. In the daytime under calm and strong sunshine condition, there occurred a large temperature difference between the uppermost sea surface and the 1 m depth.

Impact of sea surface temperature on satellite retrieval of sea surface salinity
SPIE Proceedings, 2016Currently, global sea surface salinity (SSS) can be retrieved by the satellite microwave radiometer onboard the satellite, such as the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity(SMOS) and the Aqurius. SMOS is an Earth Explorer Opportunity Mission from the European Space Agency(ESA).
