An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

An Action Plan Towards Fiducial Reference Measurements for Satellite Altimetry

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Satellite altimeters have been producing, as of 1992, an amazing and historic record of sea level changes. As Europe moves into full operational altimetry, it has become imperative that the quality of these monitoring signals with their uncertainties ...

The Approach for Studying Variability of Sea Wave Spectra in a Wide Range of Wavelengths from High-Resolution Satellite Optical Imagery

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
The development and validation of a method for remote measurement of the spectra of sea waves, which significantly expands the capabilities to study surface waves in large water areas in a wide range of wavelengths, is described.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Multi-polarised SAR imaging simulation of ship on heavy sea

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Multi-polarisation synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging simulation of ship under heavy sea condition is presented here. Full-wave method is used to compute the fully polarimetric backscattered waves of the complex scene of ship and sea surface.

Electromagnetic Scattering Model for Far Wakes of Ship with Wind Waves on Sea Surface

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
A comprehensive electromagnetic scattering model for ship wakes on the sea surface is proposed to study the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery for ship wakes.

Sea surface microlayer in a changing ocean – A perspective

open access: yes, 2017
The sea surface microlayer (SML) is the boundary interface between the atmosphere and ocean, covering about 70% of the Earth’s surface. With an operationally defined thickness between 1 and 1000 μm, the SML has physicochemical and biological properties ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Absolute Calibration of the Chinese HY-2B Altimetric Mission with Fiducial Reference Measurement Standards

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
This research and collaboration work aims at the calibration and validation (Cal/Val) of the Chinese HY-2B satellite altimeter based upon two permanent Cal/Val facilities: (1) the China Altimetry Calibration Cooperation Plan in Qingdao, Bohai Sea and the
