Evaluation of the ERA5 Sea Surface Skin Temperature with Remotely-Sensed Shipborne Marine-Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Sea surface temperature is very important in weather and ocean forecasting, and studying the ocean, atmosphere and climate system. Measuring the sea surface skin temperature (SSTskin) with infrared radiometers onboard earth observation satellites and ...

Hydroclimate variability and its statistical links to the large-scale climate indices for the Upper Chao Phraya River Basin, Thailand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The local hydroclimates get impacts from the large-scale atmospheric variables via atmospheric circulation. The developing of their relationships could enhance the understanding of hydroclimate variability.

Reconstruction of missing data in orbital images of sea surface temperature in the southwest region of the Atlantic Ocean

open access: yesVértices, 2016
An empirical orthogonal function-based technique was used to reconstruct missing data of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images. Sea surface temperature data was used to assess the benefits of a univariate reconstruction, and the combination of both SST ...

On Sub-ENSO Variability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Multichannel singular spectrum analysis (MSSA) of surface zonal wind, sea surface temperature (SST), 20° isotherm depth, and surface zonal current observations (between 1990 and 2004) identifies three coupled ocean–atmosphere modes of variability in the ...

Self‐Soldering, Stretchable and Self‐Healing Liquid Metal Elastomer Interconnections for Soft Electronics Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A self‐healing and electrically conductive liquid metal elastomer enables robust self‐soldering of surface mount devices for soft electronics. Photothermally activated conductive pathways, strong pressure‐sensitive adhesion, and stable package‐integrated contacts provide high conductivity and extreme stretchability.

The role of atmospheric boundary layer-surface interactions on the development of coastal fronts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Frictional convergence and thermal difference between land and sea surface are the two surface conditions that govern the intensity and evolution of a coastal front. By means of the mesoscale model MM5, we investigate the influence of these two processes

Ultrasound Modulation of Visual Circuits in Mice Independent of Auditory Confound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, Qiu et al. found that low‐intensity ultrasound can directly activate sparse ultrasound‐sensitive neurons (UNs) in the primary visual cortex (V1) of deafened mice. The proportion of these sparse UNs is pressure‐dependent. Furthermore, ultrasound modulates visual circuitry with distinct excitatory and inhibitory effects.

Spatial Heterogeneity in Dead Sea Surface Temperature Associated with Inhomogeneity in Evaporation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Spatial heterogeneity in Dead Sea surface temperature (SST) was pronounced throughout the daytime, based on METEOSAT geostationary satellite data (2005–2015).

Northern Hemisphere interdecadal variability: A coupled air-sea mode [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A coupled air–sea mode in the Northern Hemisphere with a period of about 35 years is described. The mode was derived from a multicentury integration with a coupled ocean–atmosphere general circulation model and involves interactions of the thermohaline ...

THREE-WAY ERROR ANALYSIS OF SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE (SST) BETWEEN HIMAWARI-8, BUOY, AND MUR SST IN SAVU SEA

open access: yesInternational Journal of Remote Sensing and Earth Sciences (IJReSES), 2018
Variance errors of Himawari-8, buoy, and Multi-scale Ultra-high Resolution (MUR) SST in Savu Sea have been investigated. This research used level 3 Himawari-8 hourly SST, in situ measurement of buoy, and daily MUR SST in the period of December 2016 to July 2017. The data were separated into day time data and night time.
