Eastern Mediterranean surface water temperatures and d18O composition during deposition of sapropels in the late Quaternary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Water column stratification increased at climatic transitions from cold to warm periods during the lateQuaternary and led to anoxic conditions and sapropel formation in the deep eastern Mediterranean basins.

Weddell Sea Control of Ocean Temperature Variability on the Western Antarctic Peninsula

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Recent ice loss on the western Antarctic Peninsula has been driven by warming ocean waters on the continental shelf. However, due to the short observational record, our understanding of the dynamics and variability in this region remains poor.

Sea level drop in the Mediterranean Sea: An indicator of deep water salinity and temperature changes? [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2000
Coastal sea level data from seven tide gauges in the Western Mediterranean and the Adriatic show decreasing sea levels after 1960. Control stations in the Black Sea and in the northeastern Atlantic indicate sea levels still rising after 1960. The sea level trend in the Mediterranean before 1960 was between 1.2 and 1.5 mm yr−1, while in the Atlantic and

Simulated global-mean sea level changes over the last half-millennium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Simulations of the last 500 yr carried out using the Third Hadley Centre Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere GCM (HadCM3) with anthropogenic and natural (solar and volcanic) forcings have been analyzed.

Seasonal Variability of Wind, Surface Current and Sea Surface Temperature in the Eastern Seram Waters During the 2015 Super El Nino

open access: yesNekton
The eastern Seram waters are influenced by both the Seram Sea and the Banda Sea. This study aimed to examine variations in wind, surface currents, and sea surface temperature (SST) during 2015, coinciding with the super El Niño event.

Short period variations in sea water temperatures

open access: yesMAUSAM, 1960
The ease of measuring ocean temperatures with bathythermographs has made the re-cording of temperature an integral. part of most oceanographic research programs. There-fore, many temperature data are available for analysis.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Generalized Additive Models for Predicting Sea Level Rise in Coastal Florida

open access: yesGeosciences, 2023
Within the last century, the global sea level has risen between 16 and 21 cm and will likely accelerate into the future. Projections from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) show the global mean sea level (GMSL) rise may increase to up ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Multi-proxy reconstruction of surface water pCO2 in the northern Arabian Sea since 29ka [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report here the results of a multi-proxy study to reconstruct surface water pCO2 concentrations in the northern Arabian Sea. Our results show that [delta]11B and Mg/Ca measurements of the planktonic foraminifer Globigerinoides sacculifer yield ...
