Seabed Materials

Science, 1987
A large catalog of materials has been proposed as potential seabed resources, and some seabed materials such as hydrocarbons and tin already contribute to the world's economy. Scientific advances have increased our knowledge of other seabed prospects, but realization of their potential will be determined by their relative economic accessibility ...

Seabed Warfare

2022
Abstract Advances in undersea technology have made the seabed more accessible to human activity, both civilian and military. All states may emplace military installations and structures on the seabed beyond the territorial sea of other nations for purposes other than exploitation of economic resources.

Seabed Mining

2017
Seafloor morphology plays a key role in submarine mineral exploration as precious minerals are associated with specific geomorphological settings. Mn-nodules occur in abyssal plains, seafloor massive sulphides are strongly connected to volcanic areas and sand, gravel and other marine minable aggregates are deposited in coastal environments.

Analyzing lateral seabed variability with Bayesian inference of seabed reflection data

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
This paper considers Bayesian inversion of seabed reflection-coefficient data for multi-layer geoacoustic models at several sites, with the goal of studying lateral variability of the seabed. Rigorous uncertainty estimation is carried out to resolve lateral variability of the sediments from inherent inversion uncertainties.

Seabed reflection measurement uncertainty

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2003
The seabed reflection coefficient is a fundamental property of the ocean waveguide. Measurements of the frequency and angular dependence of the reflection coefficient can provide information about the geoacoustic properties of the seabed or can be used as an input to propagation models.
