"Finite element analysis and validation of nuclear equipment personnel airlock sealing structure"

open access: yesHecheng xiangjiao gongye
The Mooney-Rivlin model was used to perform finite element analysis of sealing structure of double-channel O-ring seal for personnel airlock in nuclear power plant, the von Mises stress and contact stress of the O-ring seal at different compression size ...

The Use and Effect of Attic Seals [PDF]

open access: yesClassical Philology, 1908
The use of seals was very common not only in Greece but throughout the Orient, even in remote antiquity. In Zakro several hundreds of clay seal impressions which belong to the Mycenaean period were found.' "These may have been attached to bales of goods and were preserved as a record of commercial transactions."2 There is no evidence for the use of ...

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Effectiveness of marginal sealing of temporary restorative materials

open access: yes, 2023
INTRODUCTION: Temporary restorative materials are an important prerequisite for success of endodontic treatment, because their main task is to close the cavity and prevent microleakage that is to disable fluid percolation and penetration of ...

Design and Experimental Test of a self-sealing component for reciprocal motion of MR fluid based device

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This research presents a novel approach to sealing components by proposing an optimized design and experimental evaluation of a magneto-rheological fluid (MRF) sealing component for reciprocal motion, with a specific focus on MR dampers.

“Energy devices in gynecological laparoscopy – Archaic to modern era”

open access: yesGynecology and Minimally Invasive Therapy, 2017
The introduction of newer vessel sealing systems has revolutionized techniques of hemostasis during laparoscopic surgery. These devices allow for rapid sequential tissue and vessel sealing, coagulation, and transection. Despite of widespread use of newer

Enhancing Bubble Removal in Geometry‐Optimized Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed lattice electrodes outperform stochastic foams in alkaline water electrolysis despite 20%–25% lower surface area. Straight flow channels generate Venturi‐like bubble entrainment, suppressing gas accumulation that renders foam interiors electrochemically inactive.
