Analysis of Sealing and Leakage Performance of the Subsea Collet Connector with Lens-Type Sealing Structure [PDF]
The contact mechanics model of the metal lens-type sealing gasket is established on the basis of Hertz theory on the macroscopical scale in this paper. The relationship among sealing width, contact pressure, and preload is solved. Based on the structural

Evaluation of Brush Seal Performance for Oil Sealing Applications
39th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 2003Oil sealing at high speeds is one of the major problems engineers should address in turbomachinery design. High temperatures faced in oil sumps in aircraft engines, and large seal sizes typical in land based turbine applications further complicate the problem.

Performance of Auctions and Sealed Bids
2009We develop models of automated E-commerce techniques, which predict the economic outcomes of these decision mechanisms, including the price attained by a good and the resulting income per unit time, as a function of the rate at which bidders provide the bids and of the time taken by the seller to decide whether to accept a bid.

Sealing Performance of a Magnetic Fluid Seal for Rotary Blood Pumps
Artificial Organs, 2009AbstractA magnetic fluid (MF) for a rotary blood pump seal enables mechanical contact‐free rotation of the shaft and, hence, has excellent durability. The performance of a MF seal, however, has been reported to decrease in liquids. We have developed a MF seal that has a “shield” mechanism and a new MF with a higher magnetization of 47.9 kA/m.

Materials Testing, 1997
In this article, the author discusses the importance of selecting the proper materials for various seal designs. For every seal application there is an optimal pair of rubbing materials that provides the longest life and lowest operating cost. This rubbing pair must be selected from among scores of seal nose materials and an equally large number of ...

Performance and Acceptance of Respirator Facial Seals
Ergonomics, 1970Three respirator full face masks with different paripheral seal designs (flat, inner flap, and pneumatic) were modified to permit study of the facial seal component. Twelve subjects participated in the study. Each subject completed a three-hour test session on each mask.

Design Parameters of Brush Seals and Their Impact on Seal Performance
Volume 6: Oil and Gas Applications; Concentrating Solar Power Plants; Steam Turbines; Wind Energy, 2012Brush seals, which were originally designed for gas turbine applications, have been successfully applied to large-scale steam turbines within the past decade. From gas turbine applications, the fundamental behavior and designing levers are known. However, the application of brush seals to a steam turbine is still a challenge.

A Model for Static Sealing Performance of End Face Seals
Tribology Transactions, 1994The effect of face loading, surface roughness and material properties on the static sealing performance of mechanical face seals is analyzed. The analysis combines the problems of contact and flow between two rough surfaces. The results are compared with available experimental data and are found to be reasonable.

Sealing Performance and Wear Mechanism of PTFE Oil Seal
2009Modified PTFE oil seal is studied: non-linear finite element model of sealing interface is established to simulate the distribution of contact stress and the grinding condition. The friction and wear properties of PTFE composite are investigated in different loads under dry and oil-lubricated conditions.
