Faster seam carving with minimum energy windows

Proceedings of the 29th Annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing, 2014
Content-aware image retargeting is the problem of adapting images to different display sizes and aspect ratios while minimizing distortions to the most important regions of those images. Seam carving is an operator for content-aware image retargeting that iteratively removes 8-connected pixel paths (seams) from an image until a target resolution is ...

Seam carving based on improved line detection

2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems, 2012
With the vigorous development of technology, more and more people rely on various computer and 3C products. Computer can enrich our live to make our thinking more colorful, but it is limited to the indoor environment because computer is not easy to carry anywhere, even for the notebook.

Seam carving for content-aware image resizing

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2007
Effective resizing of images should not only use geometric constraints, but consider the image content as well. We present a simple image operator called seam carving that supports content-aware image resizing for both reduction and expansion.

Content-Aware Video Retargeting by Seam Carving

2017
Due to the rapid growth of digital gadgets with various screen sizes, resolutions and hardware processing capabilities, robust video retargeting is of increasing relevance. An efficient retargeting algorithm should not only retain semantic content, but also maintain spatiotemporal resolution of video data.

Perceptually relevant energy function for seam carving

2013 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2013
Seam carving, an image re-targeting method, works by progressively finding and removing connected paths of low energy pixels in an image until a desired image aspect ratio is reached. In this paper, we first cast the problem of minimizing an energy function as that of minimizing a distortion cost.

NIF-based seam carving for image resizing

Multimedia Systems, 2014
In this paper, improving the existing seam carving technique, we propose a novel image-resizing method which considers both texture and color information of the original image. Neighborhood inhomogeneity factor (NIF), which describes the image inhomogeneity, is used to compute the saliency map of an image in the Lab space.

Seam Carving on CUDA architectures [PDF]

open access: possible, 2010
The objective of this thesis is to optimize the Seam Carving method in CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) [5]. We want to determine, if a general method can be effectively transferred into a parallel method, and whether such a step means a better (faster) performance. The method of Seam Carving is a content aware image scaling method.
