Projected pH reductions by 2100 might put deep North Atlantic biodiversity at risk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This study aims to evaluate the potential for impacts of ocean acidification on North Atlantic deep-sea ecosystems in response to IPCC AR5 Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs).

Bathymetry of Valdivia Bank, Walvis Ridge, South Atlantic Ocean: Implications for Structure and Geologic History of a Hot Spot Plateau

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2022
Valdivia Bank is an oceanic plateau in the South Atlantic formed by hot spot magmatism at the Mid‐Atlantic Ridge during the Late Cretaceous. It is part of the Walvis Ridge, an aseismic ridge and seamount chain widely considered to be formed by age ...

Trace element geochemistry of peridotites from the Izu-Bonin-Mariana Forearc, Leg 125

open access: yes, 1992
Trace element analyses (first-series transition elements, Ti, Rb, Sr, Zr, Y, Nb, and REE) were carried out on whole rocks and minerals from 10 peridotite samples from both Conical Seamount in the Mariana forearc and Torishima Forearc Seamount in the Izu ...

Life History and Ecology of Bluenose Warehou (Hyperoglyphe antarctica, Centrolophidae) in the Southern Atlantic

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Bluenose warehou (Hyperoglyphe antarctica) is a popular commercial fish in Australia and New Zealand, but its biology and ecology are very poorly known in other regions where it is found.

Bermuda’s Walsingham Caves: A Global Hotspot for Anchialine Stygobionts

open access: yesDiversity, 2021
Bermuda is an Eocene age volcanic island in the western North Atlantic, entirely capped by Pleistocene eolian limestone. The oldest and most highly karstified limestone is a 2 km2 outcrop of the Walsingham Formation containing most of the island’s 150 ...

Morphology and tectonics of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, 7°–12°S

open access: yes, 2003
We present swath bathymetric, gravity, and magnetic data from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between the Ascension and the Bode Verde fracture zones, where significant ridge–hot spot interaction has been inferred.

Climate Change Projections for the Southwest Pacific Ocean Using Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) Phase 5 and 6 Models: Implications for Physics, Biogeochemistry, Ecosystems, and Fisheries

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, Volume 60, Issue 1, March 2026.
This article analyses future projections of ocean properties for a region of the south‐west Pacific Ocean encompassing the New Zealand Exclusive Economic Zone under different climate change emission scenarios. Projections are updated and expanded from previous assessments using a “best” ensemble comprising both CMIP5 and CMIP6 earth system models.
