Analytics of new psychoactive substances (NPS) - in search of optimal solutions [PDF]
In recent years, new psychoactive substances (NPS) have become a popular alternative to traditional drugs. In the European Union Early Warning System of European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) the number of NPS increases each ...

A Framework for Structured Quantum Search [PDF]
A quantum algorithm for general combinatorial search that uses the underlying structure of the search space to increase the probability of finding a solution is presented. This algorithm shows how coherent quantum systems can be matched to the underlying structure of abstract search spaces, and is analytically simpler than previous structured search ...

Search and Analytics Using Semantic Annotations [PDF]
Search systems help users locate relevant information in the form of text documents for keyword queries. Using text alone, it is often difficult to satisfy the user's information need. To discern the user's intent behind queries, we turn to semantic annotations (e.g., named entities and temporal expressions) that natural language processing tools can ...

Estimating the sensitivity of wide-parameter-space searches for gravitational-wave pulsars [PDF]
This paper presents an in-depth study of how to estimate the sensitivity of searches for gravitational-wave pulsars -- rapidly-rotating neutron stars which emit quasi-sinusoidal gravitational waves. It is particularly concerned with searches over a wide range of possible source parameters, such as searches over the entire sky and broad frequency bands.

Target Searches of Interacting Brownian Particles [PDF]
We study the target search of interacting Brownian particles in a finite domain, focusing on the effect of inter-particle interactions on the search time. We derive the integral equation for the mean first-passage time and acquire its solution as a series expansion in the orders of the Mayer function.
