Using Anomaly Detection to Search for Technosignatures in Breakthrough Listen Observations

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We implement a machine learning algorithm to search for extraterrestrial technosignatures in radio observations of several hundred nearby stars, obtained with the Parkes and Green Bank Telescopes by the Breakthrough Listen collaboration.

The Role of Chemistry Across Disciplines From Humanities to Life Sciences in Understanding Complexity and Emergence

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 17, 20 April 2026.
This study explores the origins of life by linking prebiotic chemistry, the emergence of information‐carrying molecules such as RNA and proteins, and philosophical questions about consciousness. The study emphasizes the role of molecular evolution in the Central Dogma and provides insights into the chemical origins of biology and the basis of life's ...

A TESS Test of the Hybrid Ring Strategy for Technosignature Searches Using GRB 221009A

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the first observational test of the hybrid ring strategy, a general coordinated signaling scheme proposed by N. Seto, which provides a practical Schelling point realization for interstellar signaling.

A Search for Extraterrestrial Technosignatures in Archival FAST Survey Data Using a New Procedure

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) commensal surveys aim to scan the sky to find possible technosignatures from an extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI). The mitigation of radio frequency interference (RFI) is an important step, especially

Efficient and Adaptive Autonomous Guidance and Control of Planetary Rover With Improved Traction Controller and Dynamic Cost Map

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Planetary exploration is rapidly gaining importance within the space research community. Autonomous locomotion of rovers requires consideration of several mobility aspects to ensure safety, including avoiding hazardous areas that can cause the robot to become immobilized in soft soil or damaged in sharp terrains.

Hybrid Strategy for Coordinated Interstellar Signaling: Linking the Galactic Center and Extragalactic Bursts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) is largely limited by the vastness of the signaling parameter space. The concurrent signaling scheme offers a framework in which civilizations can coordinate their transmission and reception by ...

The Evolution of Autonomous Systems for Planetary Cave Exploration: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The exploration of Subsurface Access Points (SAPs), such as lava tubes on the Moon and Mars, has gained significant interest due to their potential as stable environments shielded from surface radiation and temperature extremes. These sites are considered high‐value targets for detecting water and signs of ancient life, and assessing their ...

Solar Hegemony: M Dwarfs Are Unlikely to Host Observers Such As Ourselves

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
With no firm evidence for life beyond our solar system, inferences about the population of observers such as ourselves rest upon the Earth as a single input, at least for now.
