Numerically Optimized Uniformly Most Powerful Alphabets for Hierarchical-Decode-and-Forward Two-Way Relaying

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
We address the issue of the parametric performance of the Hierarchical-Decode-and-Forward (HDF) strategy in a wireless 2-way relay channel. Promising HDF, representing the concept of wireless network coding, performs well with a pre-coding strategy that ...

Cardiovascular oscillations: in search of a nonlinear parametric model [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2003
We suggest a fresh approach to the modeling of the human cardiovascular system. Taking advantage of a new Bayesian inference technique, able to deal with stochastic nonlinear systems, we show that one can estimate parameters for models of the cardiovascular system directly from measured time series.

Advanced Experiment Design Strategies for Drug Development

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Wang et al. analyze 592 drug development studies published between 2020 and 2024 that applied design of experiments methodologies. The review surveys both classical and emerging approaches—including Bayesian optimization and active learning—and identifies a critical gap between advanced experimental strategies and their practical adoption in ...

Toward Knowledge‐Guided AI for Inverse Design in Manufacturing: A Perspective on Domain, Physics, and Human–AI Synergy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights how knowledge‐guided artificial intelligence can address key challenges in manufacturing inverse design, including high‐dimensional search spaces, limited data, and process constraints. It focused on three complementary pillars—expert‐guided problem definition, physics‐informed machine learning, and large language model ...

Visual Information Fusion through Bayesian Inference for Adaptive Probability-Oriented Feature Matching

open access: yesSensors, 2018
This work presents a visual information fusion approach for robust probability-oriented feature matching. It is sustained by omnidirectional imaging, and it is tested in a visual localization framework, in mobile robotics.

A Polyhedral Method to Compute All Affine Solution Sets of Sparse Polynomial Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To compute solutions of sparse polynomial systems efficiently we have to exploit the structure of their Newton polytopes. While the application of polyhedral methods naturally excludes solutions with zero components, an irreducible decomposition of a ...

Enabling Stochastic Dynamic Games for Robotic Swarms

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This paper scales stochastic dynamic games to large swarms of robots through selective agent modeling and variable partial belief space planning. We formulate these games using a belief space variant of iterative Linear Quadratic Gaussian (iLQG). We scale to teams of 50 agents through selective modeling based on the estimated influence of agents ...

A Sensitivity-Inspired Parameter Identification Method for the Single-Diode Model of Photovoltaic Modules

open access: yesModelling
Parametrization of photovoltaic (PV) modules makes an important foundation for monitoring and fault diagnosis. This work focus on the sensitivity of parameters for the single-diode model (SDM), which fills the gap in existing research.

Improved Maximum Entropy Analysis with an Extended Search Space

open access: yes, 2012
The standard implementation of the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) follows Bryan and deploys a Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) to limit the dimensionality of the underlying solution space apriori.
