Seasonal Anomalies in Stock Returns: A Study of Developed and Emerging Markets

IIMS Journal of Management Science, 2010
Seasonal anomalies are reported by researchers for developed as well as emerging stock markets. Day of the week effect is the most talked anomaly. However, due to the increased use of the information technology and on-going stock market reforms in ...

Unsupervised Anomaly Detection for Seasonal Time Series

2019 6th Swiss Conference on Data Science (SDS), 2019
We extend eBay's Atlas algorithm to automatically detect anomalies in unlabeled, seasonal time series data. Named MULDER, the algorithm involves deriving a "surprise" metric from the time series, which is then analysed statistically for anomalies. We evaluate the efficacy of MULDER via the Numenta Anomaly Benchmark, and calibrate it for deployment with

The effect of seasonal anomalies of seawater temperature and salinity on the fluctuation in yields of small yellow croaker, Pseudosciaena polyactis, in the Yellow Sea

Oceanographic Literature Review, 1997
To include the effects of environmental factors on the production of small yellow croaker, Pseudosciaena polyactis Bleeker, in the Yellow Sea, we applied time series analysis to the commercial catch and salinity and temperature data for the period 1970 ...

The seasonal anomalies in ionosphere over Turkey

2016 24th Signal Processing and Communication Application Conference (SIU), 2016
The ionosphere is a region on the Earth's upper atmosphere which extends between 50 km to 1000 km from the ground. It is a layer that consists gases which are ionized by solar radiation. Solar radiation and incident angle of the Sun is important to understand how the Ionosphere affects the radio waves.

Does the sales seasonality anomaly exist in China?

Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, 2020
Abstract In this paper, we examine the relationship between sales seasonality and future stock return in the US and Chinese markets. Consistent with Grullon et al. (2020), we find low-sales-season firms tend to significantly outperform high-sales-season firms in the US market.

Seasonal Anomaly in Ionospheric Radio Wave Absorption

Nature Physical Science, 1973
The temporal variation of the ionospheric absorption of radio waves in the 1.5 to 6 MHz range with the solar zenith angle (χ) is usually written in the form cos n χ. Theoretically n = 1.5 for absorption occurring in a Chapman layer, although such a theory cannot strictly be applied to the D region.

Mapping of season length anomalies in Mexico

2017 9th International Workshop on the Analysis of Multitemporal Remote Sensing Images (MultiTemp), 2017
Parameters describing the cyclic patterns of vegetation phenology can be derived from satellite image time series. The length of the annual vegetation period is a useful summary parameter, important for analyzing broad-scale ecological differences of vegetation and seasonal gains in biomass.

Seasonal Anomalies in Vietnamese Stock Markets: New Evidence

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2021
This paper primarily studies the possible existence of the January Effect or the Turn-Of-The-Year Effect in the Vietnamese stock markets and the study proceeds on two propositions. First, if the January anomaly is ascribed to the tax-related selling, it should be clear in the month of April in the Vietnamese context. Second, if the phenomenon is due to

Computer simulation of the F-region seasonal anomaly

Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1972
Abstract A two-dimensional steady state continuity equation of electron density has been solved numerically for the winter and summer cases. The difference between the winter and summer cases was simulated by adjusting the solar zenith angle, the mean Earth-Sun distance, the plasma temperature and by making systematic changes of the neutral ...
