What season suits you best? Seasonal light changes and cyanobacterial competition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Nearly all living organisms, including some bacterial species, exhibit biological processes with a period of about 24 h called circadian (from the Latin circa, about and dies, day) rhythms.

Seasonal changes in organic carbon content in post-arable forest soils

open access: yesSoil Science Annual, 2019
The purpose of this work is to determine seasonal changes in the organic carbon content in the mineral topsoil horizon of the Dystric Brunic Arenosols currently used as forest.

Tropical seasonal changes impact on hematological parameters of goats

open access: yesJournal of the Indonesian Tropical Animal Agriculture, 2021
The study was carried out to evaluate the impact of seasonal variations on the hematological responses of goats in Malaysia. Fifty-two goats (24 bucks and 28 does), aged between 1 to 2 years old were used in the study.

A Cross-Season Correspondence Dataset for Robust Semantic Segmentation

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we present a method to utilize 2D-2D point matches between images taken during different image conditions to train a convolutional neural network for semantic segmentation.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Seasonal changes and determination of heavy metal concentrations in Veshaw river of the Indian western Himalaya

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Chemistry, 2022
Trace elements are a major pollutant in the river water and these pollutants are present in all components of the ecological system. Since time immemorial, the River Veshaw has been one of the important sources of water and has shaped the cultural and ...

The transcriptional repressor complex FRS7-FRS12 regulates flowering time and growth in Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Most living organisms developed systems to efficiently time environmental changes. The plant-clock acts in coordination with external signals to generate output responses determining seasonal growth and flowering time.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Leaf-Associated Epiphytic Fungi of Gingko biloba, Pinus bungeana and Sabina chinensis Exhibit Delicate Seasonal Variations

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2022
Plant-leaf surface on Earth harbors complex microbial communities that influence plant productivity and health. To gain a detailed understanding of the assembly and key drivers of leaf microbial communities, especially for leaf-associated fungi, we ...
