Spatial and temporal analysis of the LST-NDVI relationship for the study of land cover changes and their contribution to urban planning in Monte Hermoso, Argentina

open access: yesDocuments d'Anàlisi Geogràfica, 2018
The aim of this work was to study the spatial distribution of Land Surface Temperature (LST) and its relationship with diverse urban land covers and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI).

Climate Change Threatens Micronutrient Density of European Winter Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micronutrients are vital for human health. Wheat is a major staple crop and a significant source of minerals and B‐vitamins. The impact of climate change on their content remains largely unknown. We evaluated micronutrient levels in European winter wheat grown under historical and projected climate conditions. Our findings indicate that future climates

Following the Food: Dynamic, Seasonal Changes in the Fine-Scale Distribution of Foraging Minke Whales Within a Scottish Marine Protected Area (MPA)

open access: yesOceans
Environmental heterogeneity is especially important in determining the distribution and spatial management of marine mammals. Intra-annual changes in distribution exhibited by highly mobile species such as baleen whales, however, present a challenge to ...

Rapid Remodeling of the Human Gut Microbiome in Response to Short‐Term Animal Product Restriction and Associations with Host Molecular Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐world model of structured animal product restriction practiced for religious reasons reveals the dynamic adaptability of the human gut microbiome to dietary change and uncovers reductions in diversity and rare taxa loss. Integrated microbiome, metabolomic, and proteomic analyses uncover coordinated taxonomic and molecular shifts and identify ...

Effects of Various Photoperiods on Color and Pubescence in \u3ci\u3eThyanta Calceata\u3c/i\u3e (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Rearing immatures of Thyanta calceata in a Iange of photoperiods showed that a threshold photoperiod is involved in the adult dimorphic response (color and pubescence) with the mean threshold near 12.5L: 11.5D.

An Increasing Misalignment Between Crop Distribution and Environmental Resources Under Climate Change in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Climate change reshapes the spatial alignment between crop production and environmental resources. Using multi‐source data and a crop model, integrated climatic, water, and soil endowments for maize and wheat are quantified and compared with harvest distributions.

Seasonal distribution of vitamin B12 in Lake Kinneret [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1977
Vitamin B12 is formed in Lake Kinneret in the hypolimnion and in the sediment. The highest value of B12 recorded in the lake water was about 100 ng/liter in November and December of 1975 at a 40-m depth. The vitamin was liberated from the hypolimnion during the turnover period. This supply of the vitamin to the photic zone was accompanied by increasing

Coupled Above‐ and Belowground Ecosystem Stability Worldwide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Are the worlds above and below our feet in sync? This global exploration reveals an entangled fate between above‐ and belowground ecosystem stability. It identifies arid regions as hotspots for this coupling and highlights temperature stability as a vital safeguard for maintaining ecosystem balance across our warming planet.
