Storage Efficiency of Off‐Season Irrigation

Agronomy Journal, 2008
Water levels in the Ogallala aquifer are declining, and with the resultant decrease in water capacity of wells, irrigators face difficulty in meeting crop water needs. Off‐season irrigation is common in the region, although research has shown it is often inefficient.

Comparison of control strategies for a solar heating system with underground pit seasonal storage in the non-heating season

, 2019
The solar heating system coupled with seasonal thermal storage (SHSSTS) is a promising solution to solve the seasonal mismatch between the solar energy supply and heating demand.

Dormant-Season Nonstructural Carbohydrate Storage

2003
Like tree growth, dormant-season carbon storage is an important, integrative measure of tree health. Carbon is stored throughout trees in the form of carbohydrates for later use as an energy resource and substrate for synthetic products (Kozlowski et al. 1991).

Solar combisystem with seasonal thermal storage

Journal of Building Performance Simulation, 2010
The performance of a solar combisystem with a long-term thermal storage capacity is investigated for a typical one-storey detached house in Montreal. Simulation results from the TRNSYS program show that, starting with the second year, the system is able to cover fully the heating and domestic hot water thermal loads using the solar energy exclusively ...

Performances and modelling of a circular moving bed thermochemical reactor for seasonal storage

Applied Energy, 2018
A novel thermochemical reactor was designed, built, and tested at Besol’s and CEA-INES’ labs. Its circular shape and its vibrating bed allow to move the solid hydrate constantly, therefore increasing turbulence in the moist air heat and mass transfer ...

Seasonal Solar Energy Storage Systems for Buildings

Proceedings of the 48th International HVAC&R Congress, 2017
The paper presents a review of seasonal solar energy storage technologies for heating of buildings. Actual national and international energy strategies generally encourage the use of renewable energy sources. Thermal energy storage (TES) offers various opportunities in the design of renewable energy systems especially solar energy.

The Economics of Seasonal Gas Storage [PDF]

open access: possible, 2005
We propose a model of seasonal gas markets which is flexible enough to include supply and demand shocks while also considering natural gas as an exhaustible resource. Using US data, we estimate the model’s structural parameters and test economically founded restrictions.

Seasonal Storage of Thermal Energy with Radiatively Heated Storage Walls

International Journal of Solar Energy, 1984
In most temperature climate zones there is a large difference between summer and winter of global irradiation. As an example, the yearly distribution of global radiation for Freiburg (Federal Republic of Germany, 48° latitude) for two years shows a factor of 8 between the months with the highest and lowest irradiation [1].

Seasonal storage in a solar heating system

International Journal of Ambient Energy, 1982
SYNOPSIS The various possibilities of storing solar energy are briefly examined with the conclusion that on economic grounds, only sensible heat storage using low cost materials or chemical storage leading to the formation of fuel can be suitable for seasonal storage.

Energy Roof and Seasonal Earth Storage

1984
Low level heat can be collected by an energy roof and taken to a higher level by heat pumping. If the heat pump is utilized in building heating, the energy roof is useless in summer, i.e. when solar collection can be more efficient. Therefore the coupling of an energy roof with a seasonal storage can be useful.
