The Seasonal Variability of Population in Estonian Municipalities [PDF]

open access: possibleEnvironment and Planning A: Economy and Space, 2010
The authors study the seasonal variability of population in Estonia, and develop a methodology for the monitoring of the short-term mobility of population with mobile-positioning data. The locations of calculated home anchor points of telephone users were analysed by use of the dataset of EMT, Estonia's biggest mobile operator, over a period of 2 years.

Seasonal Variability in Anthropogenic Halocarbon Emissions

Environmental Science & Technology, 2010
Ambient concentrations of eight predominantly anthropogenic halocarbons were measured via in situ gas chromatography in California's South Coast air basin for both summer and fall during the 2005 Study of Organic Aerosols at Riverside (SOAR). Ongoing emissions of the banned halocarbons methylchloroform and CFC-11 were observed in the South Coast air ...

Seasonality in the Amplitude of Decadal Variability

Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology, 2023
Abstract As the understanding of decadal variability in climate systems deepens, there is a growing interest in investigating the decadal variability of seasonal-mean or monthly mean variables. This study aims to understand the seasonality observed in the amplitude of decadal variability.

Investigation of seasonal variability of vestibular neuronitis

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2013
AbstractObjective:To determine if the incidence of vestibular neuronitis displays seasonal variation. Methods:A retrospective case review was performed to determine the monthly and quarterly incidence of vestibular neuronitis over a 36-month period. Incidence values were compiled, and the chi-square test and Rayleigh test for circular means were used to

Variability for a day or a season

Science, 2016
Physiological Ecology Species that experience larger seasonal climatic fluctuations are likely to be more physiologically flexible and thus likely to occur across a wider elevational range. Daily changes in temperature are also common but have rarely been considered. Chan et al.

Seasonality and variability of the interestrous interval in the bitch

Theriogenology, 1991
Records from two breeding colonies (A and B) located near each other were analyzed for this experiment. Colony A consisted of 19 bitches (8 Maltese, 5 Yorkshire, 3 Lhasa Apso, and 3 Bouvier des Flandres), while Colony B consisted of 48 Beagle bitches. A total of 126 interestrous intervals (141 estrous cycles) from Colony A were reviewed to quantitate ...

Seasonal Variability in a Distributed Lag Model

The Review of Economic Studies, 1981
To explain the kind of problem that this paper deals with it seems easiest to begin with an illustration. Consider a lending institution that approves applications for new home loans which are subsequently either cancelled or drawn. Suppose that typically a loan is not fully drawn immediately on approval; rather the sequence of payments is distributed ...

Florida Current: Seasonal and Interannual Variability

Science, 1985
Annual and interannual variations in the Florida Current, Caribbean, and subtropical Atlantic are investigated with the use of historical sea level differences and wind field data. Observational and model evidence suggests that the seasonal transport cycle of the Florida Current is locally forced, either upstream in the Caribbean or ...

Seasonal and Interannual Variability in the Atmosphere and in the Sea

1994
During the ZISCH project, several cruises were carried out in the period 1986–1989 to investigate concentration and transport of contaminants in the North Sea. Since this transport is also affected by atmospheric fields, wind and temperature fields were determined for a region encompassing the North Sea and the adjoining parts of the Atlantic for the ...

Seasonal Variability of the Methacholine Challenge Test

Journal of Asthma, 2009
Since the intensity of some variables that influence bronchial hyper-responsiveness (BHR) varies across different seasons of the year, the percentage of positive metacholine challenge test (MCT) is theoretically subjected to seasonal variation. This study has looked at the seasonal variability of MCT among young adults with suspected asthma. The number ...
