Seasonal Predictability of Lightning over the Global Hotspot Regions [PDF]
Skillful seasonal prediction of lightning is crucial over several global hotspot regions, as it causes severe damages to infrastructures and losses of human life. While major emphasis has been given for predicting rainfall, prediction of lightning in one season advance remained uncommon, owing to the nature of the problem, which is short-lived local ...

Seasonal integration and the evolving seasonals model [PDF]
Abstract The paper uses a model of seasonality popular in the 1960s, the evolving seasonals model, to explore issues relating to testing for unit roots in seasonal time series. The model is used to show how data can be transformed in such a way that tests for seasonal integration simply become those for regular unit roots.

Malaria seasonality and rainfall seasonality in Sri Lanka are correlated in space
Correlation in space between seasonality of malaria and seasonality of rainfall was studied in Sri Lanka. A simple seasonality index was developed by making use of the bimodal seasonality of both malaria and rainfall.

Seasonal Poverty and Seasonal Migration in Asia [PDF]
Four in five poor people in the Asia and Pacific region live in rural areas. Crop cycles in agrarian areas create periods of seasonal deprivation, or preharvest “lean seasons,” when work is scarce and skipped meals become frequent. In this paper, we document this phenomenon of seasonal poverty and discuss existing formal mechanisms for coping with it.
