Chromosome‐Level Genome Assembly of the Leafcutter Bee Megachile rotundata Reveals Its Ecological Adaptation and Pollination Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The genome of Megachile rotundata, an extensively managed solitary pollination bee species, has been sequenced, covering 280.68 Mb and predicting 10 701 genes. The study reveals significant expansions of the Toll gene family and their abundant expression in diapause prepupae, highlighting enhanced immune responses during diapause. This genome serves as

Potent Cross‐neutralizing Antibodies Reveal Vulnerabilities of Henipavirus Fusion Glycoprotein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hendra and Nipah viruses (HNVs) pose significant threats to global health. This work reports potent cross‐neutralizing antibodies targeting the fusion glycoprotein (F) and reveals shared features of these antibodies and vulnerabilities of F, thereby guiding the rational design of countermeasures against HNVs and similar pathogens.

A Soft‐Soft Contact Triboelectric Nanogenerator with a Ternary Four‐Phase Structure for Self‐Powered High‐Efficiency Dust Removal on Mars

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The frequent dust storms and charged dust particles on Mars pose significant challenges to the power generation efficiency and service life of solar panels during exploration missions. This paper proposes a novel wind‐driven ternary four‐phase soft‐soft contact triboelectric nanogenerator (FPS‐TENG) for dust removal.

The relationship between chlorophyllous spores and mycorrhizal associations in ferns: evidence from an evolutionary approach

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 109, Issue 12, Page 2068-2081, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Premise Approximately 14% of all fern species have physiologically active chlorophyllous spores that are much more short‐lived than the more common and dormant achlorophyllous spores. Most chlorophyllous‐spored species (70%) are epiphytes and account for almost 37% of all epiphytic ferns.

Annual Benefit Analysis of Integrating the Seasonal Hydrogen Storage into the Renewable Power Grids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
There has been growing interest in integrating hydrogen storage into power grids with high renewable penetration levels. The economic benefits and power grid reliability are both essential for hydrogen storage integration. In this paper, an annual scheduling model (ASM) for energy hubs (EH) coupled power grids is proposed to investigate the annual ...

Sulfonated para‐Polybenzimidazole Membranes for Use in Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Dense sulfonated para‐PBI membranes (MS‐PBI) are tested in the VRFB. The conductivity is 10 times lower than reported for MS‐PBI gel membranes, but 10 times higher than that of meta‐PBI. The influence of membrane preparation process, thickness, and operating temperature on the VRFB performance is investigated.

An Overview of Tourism Seasonality: Key Concepts and Policies

open access: yesAlmatourism, 2012
Seasonality in tourism represents a key topic in academic literature. Since the first study of BarOn (1975) about tourism seasonality, this topic is still currently being tackled over decades by several authors, as well as by policy makers of the tourism

A novel discrete grey seasonal model and its applications [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In order to accurately describe real systems with seasonal disturbances, which normally appear monthly or quarterly cycles, a novel discrete grey seasonal model, abbreviated as , is put forward by incorporating the seasonal dummy variables into the conventional model. Moreover, the mechanism and properties of this proposed model are discussed in depth,

Encoding Seasonal Climate Predictions for Demand Forecasting with Modular Neural Network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Current time-series forecasting problems use short-term weather attributes as exogenous inputs. However, in specific time-series forecasting solutions (e.g., demand prediction in the supply chain), seasonal climate predictions are crucial to improve its resilience.
